The genesis of the Petite Camargue |
It is when the Rhône and the Durance united together to flow towards the south, that the power of the water formed the "Delta du Rhône". The Camargue was created in the middle of the delta, and to the west, the Petite Camargue. |

The river of the Petite Camargue (the Vistre or the Vidourle) supplies this lagoon with fresh water. The alluvions transported by these rivers partially invade the original pond to eventually create the "Etang de l'Or" and those of the Petite Camargue. |
